Read This to Understand Our Project Approach

As apparent from this discussion Forking WordPress is an ambitious project that requires substantial resources. Given our current limitations, regarding resources we’ve devised a phased approach that allows us to build towards a full fork efficiently and sustainably. Our plan is to initially create a series of dedicated plugins, each designed to address specific features we envision for the new platform.

  1. Admin Panel Customization: We’ll create a plugin to overhaul the WordPress admin panel. This plugin will enhance the user interface with a refined layout, simplified navigation, and added customization options that align with our vision for a user-friendly experience.

  2. Bootstrap-Based Editor: As Gutenberg is replaced in our vision, we’ll introduce a Bootstrap editor to enable users to design pages with drag-and-drop ease using Bootstrap components. This will be implemented as a plugin and will support modular integration into WordPress, allowing users to toggle between this editor and the classic editor if needed.

  3. Separate Plugin and Theme Store: To support a more open and customizable ecosystem, we’ll develop a unique plugin and theme store that will act as a centralized repository for our platform’s add-ons. This store will alongside existing WordPress Plugin Repo will be designed to streamline the browsing, purchasing, and updating of plugins and themes compatible with our version of WordPress.

the roadmap.

Once these core plugins are complete and resources allow, our next step will be to integrate these features into a unified platform. At this point, we’ll incorporate the latest WordPress core functionality, merge our plugins into it, and remove dependencies, creating a seamless, full-fledged fork. This approach allows us to stay agile and efficient, gradually transitioning to a full fork with a stable, thoroughly tested set of features. By building in stages, we ensure that our end product meets the high standards we aim for while giving our users the benefits of our improvements along the way.
